Dear 1904.3 colleagues,

I hope this email can find you well.

This is Jinri Huang from China Mobile. I am writing to happily share with you a good news: on Feb. 6th, a working group dedicated on the study on next generation fronthaul interface (NGFI) has been officially founded in IEEE under the sponsorship of Communication Society (ComSoc).

The purpose of this WG with project number P1914.1 is to define
1)     The architecture for the transport of mobile fronthaul traffic (e.g., Ethernet-based), including user data traffic, and management and control plane traffic.
2) Requirements and definitions for the fronthaul networks

You can find more information from the attached the PAR of the WG.

The working group is now preparing for its first f2f meeting. For your information,
  • It would be co-located with IEEE 1904 WG.
  • Date and Time: 26-29 April, from Tuesday to Friday; 1904 WG may last 2-3 days while NGFI WG will occupy 1-2 day;
  • venue: not decided yet. But it would be either in London or the USA.
  • agenda: not decided yet. But as the first meeting, it will mainly include officer (e.g. co-chair, vice-chair, secretary etc.) election/appointment, WG structure discussion (e.g. How many task forces under the WG and which deals with what), time planning etc.

Via this email, I sincerely invite you to join us. In order for a better preparation of the meeting (e.g. venue selection, visa assistance etc.), would you please indicate whether you or your colleagues would attend the meeting by filling out the below information and feedback to me separately.
