There are also very good studies of BER and PER on Ethernet links that have
been submitted for consideration in 100GE and currently ongoing 400GE
projects. I believe these would be more applicable on per-link basis, but
are based on actual measurements and observations, which gives more
confidence than theoretical studies ...
